Deadline to register: October 22, 2021

Deadline to register: October 22, 2021

Are you a person who identifies as female or the feminine, who cares deeply about protecting our forests, and who is eager to find more creative ways to live your values?

Are you curious to become part of a collaborative process that harnesses the power of art to move others to action?

As part of the Conservation Council’s new Art for Climate Action initiative, Harm to Harmony musician, writer and facilitator, Laura Barron seeks passionate environmentalists interested in participating in a series of dialogues that will evolve into lyrics for an Ancient Forest Lullaby which she will compose, with the group’s artistic direction.

We invite diverse community input, from Indigenous and non-Indigenous perspectives.  No prior musical experience is required.

The idea is to facilitate conversations that tap the wisdom and experience of the group, around protecting our ancient forests.  The vision is for participants to co-create lullaby lyrics which can represent the Point of View of the Ancient Mother trees, themselves, serving to guide Earth’s children (all humans) through the wise words that they wish to share about protecting them.

This process is inspired by Laura’s work through Carnegie Hall’s Lullaby Project, where her own non-profit, Instruments of Change, has been working with single mothers escaping violence, to co-create original songs for their babies that foster bonding and healing.

The Ancient Forest Lullaby will be recorded by professional musicians and distributed widely through social media channels, with all participants credited as writers.

We can offer a $100 honorarium for each participant, to attend 3-4 one-hour dialogues, throughout November/December 2021.  And this exciting opportunity is open to the first 10 people who register by Friday, October 22nd.

Samples of some of Laura’s previously co-created lullabies can be enjoyed here.
