No Habitat, No Fish – Groups launch petition to speed up the restoration of the Fisheries Act

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve environmental protection of Canada’s fresh and saltwater, the Conservation Council is support a petition to restore habitat protections under the Fisheries Act.

The Conservation Council has worked for months with law foundations, First Nations, conservation groups and environmental scientists to assist the Federal Government in its efforts to reverse damaging changes made to the Fisheries Act in 2012. In March we joined an open letter and briefing note to the Fisheries Minister Hunter Tootoo.

A petition has just been launched to invite citizens from coast to coast to coast to support speedy restoration of protection to freshwater and marine habitats across the country. The Conservation Council invites its supporters to sign the petition.

One of our partners has launched the hashtag #Act4Fish. Join the conversation online.
