Nature is the foundation of our existence, and it is our responsibility to protect and preserve it for future generations. To this end, the federal government is taking significant strides towards this goal by developing the 2030 Biodiversity Strategy, and they need your input.
This strategy will shape the path Canada takes to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030. It’s time to join forces and contribute to a whole-of-society approach that will secure a sustainable future for our country and the planet.
As a Canadian citizen, you have a unique opportunity to shape the 2030 Biodiversity Strategy. The Government of Canada is actively seeking your opinions, perspectives, and ideas to ensure the strategy reflects the priorities and contributions of its people.
Now is the time to contribute to Canada’s 2030 Biodiversity Strategy and shape the future of our natural heritage. By participating in the online survey, educating yourself about biodiversity, and attending engagement events, you are playing a crucial role in safeguarding Canada’s natural treasures. Your responses will help inform the development of this crucial strategy.
Let’s come together as a whole-of-society and whole-of-government to ensure a sustainable and biodiverse future for our nation.
Understanding the Global Context
The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF) is a vital global agreement that establishes targets and goals for biodiversity conservation worldwide.
Canada, in alignment with the KMGBF, is renewing its National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan. The 2030 Biodiversity Strategy will focus on essential areas such as habitat conservation, species at risk, sustainable resource management, and indigenous-led conservation initiatives.
By integrating the KMGBF’s objectives, Canada is committed to playing a pivotal role in the global conservation efforts.
To prepare for completing the public survey, we recommend that you review the various question prompts outlined in Canada’s Discussion Paper on Biodiversity Loss.
