The Transition Town Public Forum will be hosting the Renewable Energy Solutions Tour on Tuesday, Nov. 24, at the Community College in Woodstock.

Keith Helmuth, a member of Transition Town Woodstock, said the presentation will start at 7 p.m. in the college’s teaching theatre.

He said the Renewable Solutions Tour is a project of the Conversation Council of New Brunswick to inspire and connect people to advance the transition to renewable energy in the province.

The advance of renewable energy technology is now at the tipping point for becoming the energy platform of the future,” Helmuth said in a media release announcing the presentation. “Energy experts have identified 2015 as the year of breakthrough for renewable energy. Costs are rapidly falling and installations rapidly expanding.

He said the Conservation Council’s presentation will bring together the latest information on the advance of renewable energy, and on how the people, businesses, and governments of New Brunswick can get on board for the benefits of this transition, adding New Brunswick is well situated to make maximum use of the renewable energy advantage.

The Conservation Council’s executive director Lois Corbett will share insights on how communities in New Brunswick can make the transition to renewable energy today.

As world governments come together to discuss targets on greenhouse gas reductions in Paris,” said Helmuth, “join us for a conversation on how renewable energy is and could be meeting and exceeding the province’s climate action targets while creating meaningful employment and growing the renewable energy economy in the province.

Helmuth told the Bugle-Observer the Woodstock visit represents the beginning of the tour which next year will be going to all parts of the province.

He said the Renewable Solutions Tour aims to bring together clean energy producers and consumers, local business organizations, local elected officials and others interested in supporting renewable energy in their communities and across the province of New Brunswick.

Helmuth said the Transition Town Woodstock Forum is pleased to have this important presentation as the opening event of its 2015-16 season.

He said TTW Forums are open to the public without charge. Donations are welcome to cover ongoing forum expenses.
