Just under six months ago, New Brunswick witnessed one of the province’s most trusted wildlife experts and deer biologists, Rod Cumberland, be fired from his teaching position at the Maritime College of Forest Technology in Fredericton. Rod has been an outspoken critic on the use of glyphosate on New Brunswick’s Crown forest and its impact on our woods and wildlife. Many New Brunswickers, including former employees and employers of Rod, believe this factored heavily into his dismissal from the publicly-funded college.
You can help stand up for academic freedom and stop bullying by New Brunswick’s forestry industry by joining The Friends of Rod Cumberland on Tuesday, Nov. 19, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the steps of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in Fredericton to call for an impartial and independent investigation into the cause of Rod’s termination.

Stay posted to the Friends of Rod Cumberland Facebook Page for more details on the rally, including a list of speakers.
Let’s join together to call for academic freedom in New Brunswick and science-based decisions in our forests. The rally takes place on the opening day of the fall 2019 legislative session, so please come out in force to support Rod and ensure our elected representatives hear this message loud and clear!
