A one of a kind handmade mixed media piece that captures a small piece of the forest floor. Created using needle felting techniques and mounted on locally collected river stone and finished with lichen and moss. Each needle felted piece takes 4-6 hours to complete depending on the size.
Amanita muscaria, Latin for “fly fungus”, is a common sight in New Brunswick’s forests. It has large white gills, with white spots on a range of colors from yellow, orange and red. This mushroom was dried, powdered and poured into milk to attract flies as it contains toxins that make the flies drowsy and collapse.
