Media responses to Ombudsman Report on failure of Province’s water protection regulation

On Friday, August 15, the New Brunswick Ombudsman tabled “Report into the Department of Environment’s Management of the Provincial Water Classification Program”.  It wasn’t good news. His investigation concluded that successive governments have been intentionally delaying the acceptance of 19 applications for river protection across the province.  The result, the Ombudsman states,   is a “mirage” and “misleading” program that does nothing to protect New Brunswick watersheds.
