What: Dr. Moe Qureshi, the Conservation Council’s Manager of Climate Solutions, will be available to respond to questions about the federal government’s new Clean Electricity Regulations aimed at achieving a net-zero electricity grid by 2035. These regulations focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, maintaining grid reliability, and making sure that electricity remains affordable. Dr. Qureshi’s full analysis will be issued next week.
When: Thursday, August 10 at 11:30 a.m.
Who: Dr. Moe Qureshi, Manager of Climate Solutions
Where: Conservation Council of New Brunswick, 180 St. John St., Fredericton, N.B.
Why: The burning of fossil fuels to generate electricity contributes to air pollution and climate change. The Canadian government is not alone in its ambition to decarbonize its grid by 2035. All G7 countries have made similar commitments. The Conservation Council calls on the federal government to ensure strong and robust Clean Electricity Regulations, and the provincial government to develop a Clean Electricity Strategy that guarantees our grids are carbon neutral.
