Job Description 

CCNB is hiring to extend and enhance our marine and energy program efforts in Francophone communities in New Brunswick. This work is focused primarily on sustainable fisheries, other coastal issues, and energy (with special attention to the future of energy production in Belledune). The successful candidate will also work on other CCNB Marine priorities as needed. This work is part of a regional collaboration, and the new hire will work in partnership with fisheries experts and campaigners from Oceans North, the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society,  and the Canadian Wildlife Federation. The successful candidate will require a strong independent work ethic and experience, while also appreciating and supporting collaborative team dynamics and work flows. In addition, strong written and verbal communication skills are critical to the role.

 

This position will include significant community engagement and communications including: liaising with Indigenous Nations; engaging local governments and other decision makers; writing blogs and assisting with reports; and engaging with media.

Location is negotiable along New Brunswick’s Gulf of Saint Lawrence and Northumberland Strait coast. When appropriate, given public health guidance, the position will require travel to Fredericton 1/month, additional travel throughout region and Province, and calls with team 1/week. Travel will be remunerated but a vehicle and drivers license in good standing is required.

Qualifications

The successful applicant should have strong experience and / or training in public engagement and communications as well as working knowledge of coastal and marine issues, and renewable energy transition. Proficient French is required, with English proficiency an asset as are relationships with BIPOC communities (black, indigenous, people of colour).

Remuneration: 12-month term: $25/hr
