It took all of us to get here.

Now, let's see how much farther we can go in 2025

Your Support Made This Year’s Wins Possible — Let’s Do Even More This Giving Tuesday!

Help us reach our $100K goal to continue protecting our province; together, we can make a difference.

This Giving Tuesday, we’re celebrating the impact our passionate supporters have on the province — people like you who care deeply about protecting New Brunswick’s environment and the incredible difference you’ve made in helping us achieve some big wins in 2024.

This year, you let us know what matters most to you, and we listened. Through our open houses and surveys, you highlighted three priorities: protecting our forests, tackling climate change and holding decision-makers and industry accountable. With your help, our small but mighty team of 12 has made significant progress on these fronts.

These victories are things we’ve been working toward for years, including a government commitment to put more restrictions on pesticide and herbicide use, plans to eliminate the provincial loophole overcharging residents at the fuel pumps and a promise to fully electrify New Brunswick’s school bus fleet.

These are major steps forward and are all thanks to the donors who support our efforts each year. And you can depend on us to hold decisionmakers accountable for these commitments.

Help Us Reach our Goal!

Our end-of-year fundraising is crucial to our work in accomplishing our goals. Hundreds of individual donors allow us to remain independent and continue fighting for clean water, healthy forests and affordable climate solutions that benefit everyone in New Brunswick. Giving Tuesday this year is Dec. 2, and we have a donation goal of $100,000 leading up to this critical day to ensure we continue fulfilling this vital role.

This Giving Tuesday, let’s show what the power of a passionate community of engaged individuals can achieve. Your support is more than just a donation — it’s a commitment to the health of our forests, waters and climate, as well as holding those in power accountable for their promises.

From Action to Impact — 2024 in review

Over the past year, our staff have stood up for cleaner energy policies that don’t just cut pollution—they help you save on energy costs, too. After more than a year of advocacy, we’ve celebrated a big win this year with the government’s promise to eliminate the carbon adjustor loophole overcharging New Brunswickers for fuel. We’ve also pushed for big changes nationally by submitting recommendations for stronger clean electricity regulations and a national cap on oil and gas emissions.

And when policies, like New Brunswick’s hydrogen strategy, threatened to distract from real climate solutions, we spoke out to keep the focus on low-polluting energy policies that work. We ensured the public’s voice was heard when we intervened at New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board hearings to raise energy rates, and through our Atlantic citizens’ assembly on energy affordability, we worked with everyday Atlantic Canadians to create a solid plan to tackle energy poverty.

Despite our limited staff resources, we’ve kept fighting to protect the forests and rivers that make New Brunswick beautiful. Our campaign against glyphosate-like chemicals has led thousands of New Brunswickers to join us in writing to the government to demand change, sending nearly twice as many letters to the government as last year. In a major victory, thanks to your support, the government promised to put more restrictions on herbicide use, which we fought for when we appeared before the government’s standing committee on climate change and environmental stewardship in 2021.

This year, we’ve also pushed for responsible management of the province’s peat resources, commented on the environmental impact assessment to replace the Mactaquac Provincial Park Wastewater Treatment Lagoon and challenged the provincial government to deliver on the original promises it outlined in New Brusnwick’s water strategy.

Whether it’s supporting work to protect endangered species like the North Atlantic right whale or advocating for stronger regulations around salmon farming, our team works tirelessly to safeguard the marine waters we all cherish.

This year, we participated in the Marine Conservation Network Plan for the Scotian Shelf-Bay of Fundy Bioregion, with decades of groundwork helping to ensure a positive reception for this crucial plan. We also participated in discussions around the Fisheries Act review process and responded to environmental incidents, like the fire at American Iron and Metal, to ensure these disasters didn’t go unnoticed.

We know that facts and figures don’t always connect people with the climate crisis, which is why our team also uses art to inspire action. Our From Harm to Harmony program has brought together local artists and communities to explore climate issues through poetry, music, painting and more. You may have also seen our music videos, Yeet Scream and Already Here, created with music by local youth this year. It’s just more examples of how we’re reaching new audiences and sparking change in creative ways.

This year also marked a milestone in our campaign to electrify school transportation. After all our staff’s hard work promoting electric school buses, including releasing a joint health report this year, we are celebrating the new provincial government’s promise to fully electrify New Brunswick’s school bus fleet by 2035. That’s a game-changer for cleaner air and healthier children, and we’re committed to holding the government accountable to its promise.

We’ve continued to invest in educating the next generation of environmental stewards. Over the past year, nearly 1,000 students explored New Brunswick’s forests, rivers and wildlife through our Learning Outside program, fostering a lifelong connection to nature.

Our team expanded the program to four new schools, ensuring even more children can experience the wonders of our province’s natural environment. We have big plans to expand our educational programming in 2025, and we can’t wait to share more with you in the future!

P.S. Don’t forget that we are a registered charity — your donation will help make our province a better place to live, and you’ll receive a tax receipt in time to meet the year-end donation deadline!
