Matt Abbott, the Fundy Baykeeper, spoke with reporters for an article about Nova Scotia-based company Sustainable Blue selling its first order of land-raised Atlantic salmon on the market.
Abbott said he was pleased to see the company getting its sustainable products to market and hoped the advancements in closed containment technology would mean much fewer open-net pens in the Bay of Fundy.
In the article, published Sept. 26 in the Fredericton Daily Gleaner, Abbott said it takes effort to get closed containment farms off the ground and there is room for governments to support these sustainable enterprises through regulations.
