As part of the federal government’s Canada 150 celebrations this year, Members of Parliament from coast to coast are awarding 20 limited edition Sesquicentennial Pins to local community members who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and made significant contributions to their communities.
Always happy to support local festivities and initiatives, the Conservation Council’s Lois Corbett is honoured by her appointment to the four-member Selection Committee tasked with choosing the Sesquicentennial Pin recipients from the Fredericton Riding (which includes the City of Fredericton, Oromocto, New Maryland, and the Grand Lake Region).
Fredericton MP Matt DeCourcey will award the commemorative pins at a ceremony later this year. Recipients will be selected based on their contributions and leadership in the community, and on their commitment to one of the four themes of the Canada 150 celebrations: Environmental Stewardship, Diversity and Inclusion, Youth Engagement, and Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples.
We encourage our members to nominate a local candidate you believe deserves this special recognition. All you need to do is (in 250 words or less) describe your candidate’s key qualities, characteristics, and accomplishment connected to one or more of the Canada 150 themes.
