Think back to the highlights of your childhood. Did they include the joys of jumping into giant leaf piles? The satisfying ‘plonk’ of a rock heaved into a pond? The wonder of a delicate chickadee feeding from your hand, or the excitement of discovering a salamander under an old log?
For many of us, these are the experiences we cherish – and exactly the kind of experiences we want for our children. After all, kids and nature are, well, a natural combination!
Here at the Conservation Council of New Brunswick, we’re all about protecting our land, waters and air for future generations, but we also envision a province where kids are outdoors and connected with nature as an important part of their school experience, where learning takes place outside as well as in the classroom. We are working to make this a reality.
Through our ‘No Child Left Inside – Tous les enfants dehors!’ project, we work with schools and other educators to get kids out in fresh air, learning and moving, during the school day. We help develop nature trails and outdoor learning spaces and provide workshops and resource materials to help teachers do their thing outside, beyond the classroom walls, in nature.
With your contribution, we are able to support more schools and teachers in their efforts to take learning outdoors. Help us help teachers get kids outside. Help set the stage for the magic that happens when kids have opportunities to learn and explore in nature!
November is Membership Month at CCNB. Sign up this month for a chance to win a weekly prize, and have your name entered in a grand prize draw for a new camper stove!
