The Executive Director of the Conservation Council of New Brunswick participated in a panel discussion that aired Sunday, Oct. 26 on CBC Radio’s Atlantic Voices program. The topic was the age-old jobs versus the environment debate: do environmental concerns have to take a backseat to economic development, or can the two coexist? Lois Corbett spoke thoughtfully on the need to reinvent this tired conversation, saying the choice isn’t ‘protect the environment or create jobs,’ but rather, ‘what environmental regulations can we put in place to prevent pollution, and how do we help industry meet those regulations, invent new technologies to reduce waste and pollution, and still make profit.’
