CCNB included in NEB application round-up

The newspaper L’Acadie Nouvelle published an article on March 2 listing several of the individuals and groups from New Brunswick who applied to participate in the National Energy Board’s review of the proposed Energy East oil pipeline.

The Conservation Council was included in the list. CCNB applied for intervenor status and for funding which will be used to hire a team of scientists to examine several aspects of the proposed pipeline and its impact in New Brunswick, including: the affect on freshwater fish and fish habitat; the impact of increased tanker traffic and the risk of oil spills in the Bay of Fundy and its wildlife such as the endangered Right whale; and the state of New Brunswick’s emergency response system and its capacity to respond to a spill.
