A one of a kind handmade mixed media piece that captures a small piece of the forest floor. Created using needle felting techniques and mounted on local New Brunswick shale and finished with locally sourced lichen. Each needle felted piece takes 4-6 hours to complete depending on the size.
This piece features Laccaria amethystina, commonly known as the Amethyst Deceiver, it is a small brightly coloured mushroom that grows in deciduous and coniferous forests. Because its bright amethyst colouration fades with age and weathering, it becomes difficult to identify, hence the common name « deceiver ».
