We need to see plans: Corbett on release of AG’s climate change report

June 20, 2017 — New Brunswick Auditor General Kim MacPherson released the first volume of the 2017 New Brunswick Auditor General Report today, including an assessment of New Brunswick’s progress toward reducing greenhouse gases and adapting to climate change.

Speaking to the Telegraph-Journal the day before the report came out, our Executive Director, Lois Corbett, said she expected the report will give a fair assessment of how the province is doing on climate change action and building a green economy, as outlined in the New Brunswick Climate Action Plan. Corbett noted, however, that “pretty reports aren’t enough.”

“We need to see plans and see how they’ll roll out over time,” she said in the article published June 19. “We need to see if they’re adequate to the task of dealing with climate change from a New Brunswick perspective.”
