Stephanie Merrill on anniversary of Ombudsman’s Water Classification report

Stephanie Merrill, our Director of Freshwater Protection, was interviewed in a story about the one-year anniversary of the Ombudsman’s report into the Water Classification Program. Merrill told the New Brunswick Telegraph-Journal in an article published Monday, Aug. 17 that concerned citizens are waiting for the provincial government to put the regulations into place.

All of the work has been done – watershed groups have spent years collecting the data and the technical requirements behind this have been done,” Merrill said in the interview.

All we need now is for the minister (Brian Kenny) to sign those 19 rivers into law.”

Fredericton radio station KHJ reported on the Conservation Council’s call for action on the Water Classification program on Sunday, Aug. 16.
