Sisson proponent staying course on risky, old-fashioned mine

Our Executive Director Lois Corbett spoke with Terry Seguin of CBC’s Information Morning Fredericton about the latest news regarding the proposed Sisson Mine.

Despite lessons learned in the wake of the disastrous Mount Polley Mine tailings spill in B.C. four years ago, the company behind the Sisson proposal is proceeding with the old fashioned way of building mines and dealing with mine waste and has applied for permission to dump toxic wastewater into two brooks in the Nashwaak watershed.

Lois Corbett talks about what the proposed mine would mean for the watershed, including Sisson Brook, McBean Brook, Bird Brook and the west branch of Napadogan Brook, and people living in downstream communities like Stanley, Durham Bridge, Taymouth, Marysville and Fredericton.
