“How many letters will it take?” Photos from the rally against JD Irving’s citizen-funded glyphosate spraying program

New Brunswickers from all walks of life gathered in Saint John on May Day (May 1) to call on J.D. Irving to stop its citizen-funded herbicide spraying program on Crown land.

Citizens met at King’s Square, some dressed in creative costumes of woodland critters, to hear from several speakers, including Wolastoq Grand Chief Ron Tremblay and the Conservation Council’s Lois Corbett. Protesters then marched around the square, stopping briefly at Irving Oil’s headquarters before ending the rally in front of J.D. Irving’s headquarters down the street.

Citing the more than 3,000 letters sent to government officials the past two years demanding action on glyphosate spraying, Lois Corbett, executive director, asks, “Mr. Premier, how many letters will it take?”
