Fundy Baykeeper Matt Abbott joined host Preston Mulligan for CBC radio’s hour-long call-in show, Maritime Connection, on Sunday, Jan. 31.
The topic for the show was, “Does building the Energy East pipeline make sense for the Maritimes?”
Abbott talked about the many risks TransCanada’s bitumen pipeline proposal poses to the Bay of Fundy and existing jobs in tourism and fisheries (as highlighted in our August 2015 report), how changes to the project announced just before Christmas would place even more burden on the Bay of Fundy and New Brunswick’s natural environment, and spoke about the better opportunities for job creation here in the province through energy efficiency and renewable power.
