BuyLocalNB at the Maritime Honey Festival this weekend

Have you heard the latest buzz? If you like honey, and you like local craft products, you’re going to love the Maritime Honey Festival and its ‘Bee-R Garden,’ happening this Friday and Saturday at the Capital Exhibition Centre in Fredericton! Bruce Livesey on “The House of Irvings” — Tonight at 7 p.m.

You won’t want to miss this talk by Fredericton native Bruce Livesey, now a reporter with the National Observer who made history by winning the first-ever National Newspaper Award for an online publication with his investigative series on the Irving family’s influence in New Brunswick.  Catch Livesey’s lecture tonight at 7 p.m. at Kinsella Auditorium, McCain Hall, St. Thomas University campus.

 Webinar: Changes to the Federal Sustainable Development Act: what to expect?

In May 2016, our Executive Director Lois Corbett was appointed to Canada’s Sustainable Development Advisory Council to work with Environment and Climate Change Minister Catherine McKenna on updating the federal government’s 2016–2019 Federal Sustainable Development strategy (FDS). Learn about the proposed changes during a free webinar on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 1:30 p.m. AST. Register online by Sept. 26 to participate.

Award-winning “Green Rights” film screening in Fredericton

Acclaimed author and beloved former CBC journalist Silver Donald Cameron is in Fredericton on Wednesday, Sept. 27 to screen his award-winning documentary, Green Rights: The Human Right to a Healthy World, which tells stories of ordinary people and dedicated lawyers from nearly every continent who are suing multinational corporations and unresponsive governments on behalf of future generations and the planet itself. The screening will take place at our office, Conserver House, 180 St. John St. in Fredericton, at 7 p.m, and will be followed by a discussion with Cameron.
Wolastokw (St. John River) Summit 2017
The Wolastokw (St. John River) Summit 2017 will take place Sept. 29-30 in Saint John. Hosted by our friends at WWF-Canada and ACAP Saint John, this multi-day event is free and open to anyone who wants to learn, share, and celebrate the Wolastokw (St. John River). Want to learn how to cut through the political divide and have a productive conversation about climate change? Check out a free presentation by George Marshall, an internationally-respected author and researcher on climate change communications, and Director of Projects at Climate Outreach, who has focused his work on how to communicate with and engage conservatives on climate change. The presentation takes place on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. in the Tilley Hall auditorium, UNB Fredericton campus.
