“Don’t risk current jobs, sustainable jobs, for jobs that are short—term,” CCNB’s Lois Corbett on Energy East Pipeline

unnamedYesterday morning, Lois Corbett, Executive Director of the Conservation Council of New Brunswick (CCNB) was a guest on CBC’s Information Morning with Harry Forestell. During the interview, Lois said the NEB suffers from a credibility gap that it needs to address.

“Credible science, and credible testimony presented transparently to the public, is a must,” Corbett said.

Corbett also faced the economic arguments squarely when asked.

“I would rather go for the long game of sustainable economic development than the short-term game for pipeline company’s profits,” she said.

“And, don’t forget when we grow our solar programs, our geothermal programs and start investing a renewable economy, they will get jobs for those trades people in the same way they are currently finding jobs building pieces of pipeline.”
