Retired forester David Palmer and the Conservation Council seeking nominations for NB’s great trees

David Palmer of Atlantic Forestry Review is working with the Conservation Council on a second edition of  The Great Trees of New Brunswick. Palmer spoke with Terry Seguin on Information Morning on Wednesday, Nov. 23 about the original book, published almost 30 years ago, and the challenge to find today’s great trees for the second edition.

The first book of its series, published in 1987, was a project of the Canadian Forestry Association of New Brunswick. The book was a visual catalogue of the province’s local trees – one that captured the beauty and essence of each species with photos immortalizing New Brunswick’s forests.  Palmer said that over the course of preparation for that first issue, over 158 nominations of N.B. trees were sent in. He’s hoping to get the same reception for the upcoming book.
