Pepsi can imprint on Bay of Fundy lobster tells story
of pollution problem in NB coastal waters
From the Globe and Mail to the BBC, our Fundy Baykeeper was called to comment on an unusual catch hauled from the waters off Grand Manan: a lobster with a Pepsi can image imprinted on its claw. Matt Abbott says the lobster — dubbed the #PepsiLobster by the Twitterverse — tells the story of a dishearteningly common and pervasive problem in our oceans.

Dr. Jim Goltz wins 2017 Lieutenant-Governor’s Award
“Learn them, love them, protect them,” Jim Goltz quoted his late friend, Hal Hinds, at a guided walk of Odell Park that opened the Conservation Council’s 5 Days for the Forest event last September.  It’s this love of nature that Jim inspires in all those who have the opportunity to listen to him speak. With that in mind, we couldn’t be more proud of our dear friend and supporter for winning the Nature Trust of New Brunswick’s 2017 Lieutenant-Governor’s Award for Excellence in Land Conservation. Congratulations, Jim!
Tracking Canada’s clean growth transition
An item for the policy wonks out there — we collaborated with our friends at the Pembina Institute and a host of other partners to produce a new report that tracks how much headway the provinces, territories and federal government are making on implementing the Pan-Canadian Framework on Climate Change and Clean Growth. Check out the report, State of the Framework, which includes recommendations to ensure Canada meets and exceeds its international commitments while creating good jobs in a sustainable economy. Special thanks to Erin Flanagan at Pembina!
The Conservation Council’s recommendations for a strong water strategy
Hundreds of New Brunswickers submitted comments calling for strong water protection laws thanks in part to your help spreading our free #nbwater toolkit to every corner of our wet province (and a special thank you to those who sent comments)! You can read our submission, and comments from our friends in New Brunswick’s hard-working volunteer watershed organizations, at the link below.
