Dr. Vrain on the long term health impacts of glyphosate

Listen to an interview with Dr. Thierry Vrain, a molecular biologist and retired federal government research scientist, who recently presented to several N.B. communities about the health risks of glyphosate, the main ingredient in herbicides used in our Crown forest, during a tour organized by Stop Spraying in New Brunswick. We’ve already helped more than 1,800 New Brunswickers write their MLA to ask for the spraying of glyphosate-based herbicides in our Crown forest to end. Read the debate over the motion about glyphosate spraying in New Brunswick

Earlier this month, elected officials in New Brunswick’s Legislative Assembly debated a motion about the spraying of glyphosate-based herbicides in the province’s Crown forest. The motion called on the government to create a working group made up of government departments and outside stakeholders to look at the use of glyphosate in our Crown forest, and to suspend the spraying of glyphosate in the Crown forest until the working group reported back to government with its recommendations. You can read the Hansard of the full debate by clicking the link below.

Chronicling the Upper Miramichi’s dream of a community forest

“Deep in the heart of the New Brunswick forest in a place where a mighty river flows is a dream of a community forest,” opens the chapter by the Conservation Council’s Tracy Glynn about the efforts by Upper Miramichi residents in a new book on community forests in Canada. Growing Community Forests brings together Canada’s leading community forest researchers, practitioners and advocates to share experiences and analysis with a forest management model that involves local control over forests for the greater benefit of local communities.
