Dr. Thierry Vrain is coming to New Brunswick to present his research, for those who are interested in the effects of herbicides on organisms.
The retired research scientist for the Canadian government and expert on genetically modified foods, Dr. Thierry Vrain, will be in New Brunswick for evening presentations in four communities from October 30 to November 3, 2017. He will be presenting his findings to the public with two English language presentations in two communities: Petitcodiac and Fredericton Junction. Dr. Vrain will also be available during the day-time for media interviews during his entire stay in New Brunswick, and can be contacted via media contacts listed below.
Dr. Thierry Vrain worked for 30 years as a research scientist for the Canadian government in Québec and British Columbia where he conducted research on genetically modified potatoes, among other projects. In British Columbia, Dr. Vrain was section Head of the Biotechnology and Nematology sections at the Pacific Agri-Food Research Centre (Agriculture Canada) in Summerland.
Dr. Vrain’s visit could not be more timely. The subject of herbicide spraying on public forests and on NB Power right-of-ways is garnering a great deal of public attention and provoking widespread protest, spearheaded by the work of the Stop Spraying NB movement (Facebook Group: Stop Spraying in New Brunswick). The movement is ever-growing: New Brunswick citizens are seeing wildlife disappearing and are very concerned about the loss of a way of life that includes hunting, fishing, forest food gathering.
More and more news is coming out, pointing to the need for NB Government to exercise the precautionary principle and put a halt to spraying on public land.
Donations to finance this tour are accepted at the door.
